All of my adult dogs are between 8 and 12 pounds ! I ALWAYS show both parents before you pay for your puppy . If the size of the parents are not ok with you , you have the opportunity to walk away !!! My adults are all considered miniature size. That being said , if you purchase from me and then take that puppy home and fatten him up like a thanksgiving turkey, don't try to blame me ! A dachshund must have a waste line. That means when you are standing over top that dog he should have an hour glass figure. There are times in my profession that i too must purchase a new male to bring in new bloodlines. That being said , always brings in the possibility of a throw back size to a past generation on the new males side. If i see a pup in my litter that is larger than normal miniature size , i will tell the buyer that this pup will likely get larger than 12 lbs. Which frankly has only happened a couple of times in 15 yrs. I Can not guarantee adult size of your dog as i am not at your house feeding that dog. Over weight dachshunds are prone to many health issues. Back, leg, heart, ect. Exercise and healthly diet are very important as dachshunds are one of those breeds that tends to become over weight.
